At last...
...something different in my moth trap! After weeks of Hebrew Characters, Early Greys etc, this morning I got a Flame Shoulder! Nothing rare, but something different! See picture below.
Ask Steve Palmer - been there when he had a Square Spot Rustic do just that - its a very loud and discordant experience! The remedy was to put his head to one side, pour cooking/olive oil into his ear and then head for casualty so they can remove the then lifeless oily culprit with tweezers. Flame Shoulder is known to be the worst culprit because it is small enough to easily turn round in your ear which is even more painful than a larger moth which crawls in and gets stuck

Nice crisp one that! Looking forward to trying my 'black' light - coming to a suburb near you this week.
Cheers

The moth most likely to go into your ear and turn round and round. Cheaper than going to a rock concert.
That sounds a bit unpleasant!

Maybe I'll start wearing ear plugs (if indeed you do 'wear' an ear plug) when emptying my moth trap!
